pH electrode storage
July 3, 2009
To prevent the glass pH membrane and junction from drying out it is recommended to store your electrode in an electrode storage solution. The best solution for this is 50% saturated KNO3 and 50% pH 4 buffer in conjunction with a soaker storage bottle. pH buffer is used because the glass prefers a slightly acidic environment, adding the KNO3 avoids pH memory effect. Avoid using coloured pH buffers to prevent discolouration of the reference solution
