Camlab unveils new range of low profile, submersible magnetic stirrers

June 23, 2009

2magbioMIXdrivewithbioMIXcontrolOverviewblueThe innovative, maintenance-free 2mag range of submersible magnetic stirrers and stirrer hotplates are now available in the UK from Camlab.

The high quality magnetic stirrers feature state-of-the-art inductive drive technology which eliminates the need for traditional wire wound motors.

The compact inductive drive construction allows for a choice of low profile stirrers with a high ratio of stirring points per platform. In addition, the revolutionary drive system provides smooth, jerk-free startup, requires no maintenance and offers years of trouble free operation.

The range includes fully submersible designs, 15 place platforms, biological stirrers and the hotMIX 1, which has a footprint of only 120 x 140 x 80mm (WxDxH) and Camlab believes this makes it the smallest hotplate stirrer in the world.

Camlab’s Head of Business, Water and Environmental. David Miller, commented: “The 2mag range has been added for our 2009 catalogue but interest has been so high we have sold some units before we have even finished printing”.

Ultraflexible Ultrasonics from Camlab

April 17, 2009
Ultrasonics from Camlab

Ultrasonics from Camlab

The camSonix range of ultrasonic baths from Camlab, offers 13 models from 0.8 litres up to 90 litres, providing solutions for almost any laboratory or medical application.

A unique feature of these baths is the ability to choose the operating mode to optimise performance for specific applications. In Sweep mode, the sound wave is oscillated to ensure efficient cleaning over the entire surface of articles such as laboratory and surgical instruments. In Normal mode, energy is concentrated to give maximum efficiency for tasks such as emulsification, dispersion and mixing.

Camlab camSonix baths incorporate many user-oriented features – an ergonomic, liquid-proof control panel, easy draining, and a lid which ensures a low emitted sound level (<75 dB AU),  for comfortable use in any environment. The lid also doubles as a convenient drip tray when objects are removed from the bath.

Automated control functions that make the camSonix baths easier to use include “Autodegas” for efficiently degassing new cleaning liquids, and “Autostart”, that delays the application of ultrasound until the desired bath temperature is reached.

A range of sample baskets, accessories and cleaning chemicals is also available.

COD in 10 minutes!

April 1, 2009
Aqua Diagnostic PeCOD from Camlab

Aqua Diagnostic PeCOD from Camlab

Camlab has launched a revolutionary instrument from Aqua Diagnostic, which is capable of accurate, sensitive, real-time analysis of Chemical Oxygen Demand. The new green technology requires no hazardous chemicals, produces fast results and eliminates the time consuming digestion step.

The core of the technology is the PeCOD™ sensor which has a number of practical advantages compared with the traditional methods of COD analysis (Chemical oxygen demand). PeCOD’s ability to analyse samples containing chloride is significantly better than the dichromate method, and does not require the addition of toxic reagents like mercury and silver salts. The increased sensitivity of the method enables the measurement of clean water samples with low ppm levels of COD. Typical analysis times of less than 10 minutes are easily achieved.

The sensor consists of a UV-activated titanium dioxide film coupled to an external circuit. The high oxidising power of the sensor gives the analyser a significant advantage compared with the traditional dichromate method. The PeCOD™ COD analyser exhaustively oxidises all organics, and counts the electrons that are liberated to provide a direct measure of equivalent COD.

The PeCOD™ analyser is available as a true on-line monitor or can be supplied as a benchtop laboratory instrument, which has an optional battery pack for field use. The PeCOD™ technology allows the user to rapidly measure COD online in real time and enables a reading to be generated every 15 minutes to give unrivalled data on a waste or discharge stream. The online real time capability means that processes can be adjusted to reduce energy use or to make treatment more cost effective.

For more information on the PeCOD™ technology and for technical articles please contact the UK agent for PeCOD™, Camlab Ltd, on 01954 233100 or sales@camlab.co.uk
