Does the Hach Total Iron test detect rust?

When analysing water samples for Iron content there are a large number of forms the iron can take, from conventional dissolved Iron Salts such as Iron Chloride  to particles of Rust and Magnetite.

Does the Hach Iron test kit pick up all of this Iron or just the soluble Iron content?

Used in the standard mode the insoluble Iron particles will not be detected,. However there is an additional digestion step which can be performed to measure all of the iron in the sample.

What RCFxg can i spin the Camlab 5ml storage tubes up to?

You can spin these tubes up to 5000 xg. These tubes are a cost effective way of storing samples up to 5ml. They have the same shape as a 15ml Falcon type tube but with only half the height which reduces waste and cost. Although they look like a micro centrifuge tube they will only spin up to 5000xg

Camlab Chemicals Lugol’s Iodine usage

I’m interested in purchasing Lugol’s Iodine and wonder what strength yours is. Is it a fairly high strength and can it be used internally as well as externally?

Camlab are a supplier of laboratory chemicals and therefore cannot recommend use outside of the laboratory. We are unable to give advice on medicinal uses of chemicals. For this sort of usage you should approach a pharmacist to ensure you get the correct grade and purity of chemical.

How do you clean Omni homogeniser probes?

We have a customer with a G595 Stainless steel generator probe probe (and a TH220) who is asking for cleaning advice on this probe, the application is “muscle tissue”, is there a standard set of advice for this?

The G5-95 can be cleaned two ways depending on “How clean” they want the probe.

1. If they are not so worried about cross contamination they can run the probe in a cleaning solution and then in some water to rinse it.

2.If they are worried about cross contamination, they must take the probe apart and clean all the parts thoroughly.  That means disconnecting the internal blade assembly, taking out the bearings, etc.  There is also a PDF explaining how to do this on each of the EZ type generator webpages.
